As I'm sure like a lot of members here, I was a good customer of Trail Firearms in Edmonton....sure miss Bob's shop. These are some of the tags I have managed to hang on to. These would fall between about 1989 and the shop on Calgary Trail and 2005 ish after he had moved to Phoenix Range.
Some good deals there even at the time.
Noteably the Pre'64 Model 70 in 300 Win Mag......should have hung on to that one...LOL

Around that time period, 1986 or maybe 1985, not sure which, Rem 700 was 414.00 at Guncraft, Ruger 77 tang safety glas stock was 399.00 (new) in 1988 or 9 about when FAC's had come in and Cdn Tire Marlborough was getting out of guns. The 338WM Rem 700 KS mtn rifle from the Custom Shop in, 1991 @ Frenchy's, was 1500.00, 1885 Win was around 700 or so, at Frenchy's fire sale. Used to be able to go to Bellingham to buy brass and bullets and powder, I remember 6.95 US for 22cal 50gr Nosler Solid Bases. Bought a Nikon 6.5-20 for 325 US in 92, at a gun show in Puyallup, seems to me Leupold equiv was 420 or so here. Bought 8lbs of AA9 for 55.00US in Tacoma in 92 or 93.

Inflation over the last 30 years is officially x1.85, but in reality, easily x2 in firearms.
If you think these numbers are big, look at collector grade Lee Enfield and Mauser military prices over the same period.

Mr Preshtash was amazing!!!!! He always had a gem and he knew his customers. I can’t remember how many times I walked in there and he’d smile and say I have something you need to see and walk to the back and literally pull out a rifle he’d squirrelled away behind the door for me.

I miss Trail. The creaky floor, the smell, the “unique” clientele lol

It was amazing, and that was all thanks to Bob. Tim, was fun to talk too as well, and talk about the knowledge inside those walls. I learned a lot there. Most importantly Bob told me you can’t own them all at once, but you can own them all once, I’m thinking you got the same talk as well ;)

His little trinket gift box up front for Christmas and drinks across 104th at the roadrunner!! It really was amazing, I feel blessed to have grown up back then, things have changed a lot over the years, some for the better but some not.

I.m going to guess the Rem 760 which was the old Remington pump action rifle. Yes as fast as you can slam it you can shoot it.

1989 I was making about 15.00/hr, 1980 was about 10.00/hr, 1975 was 5.50/hr, 1969 was 2.70/hr, when I retired was 33.00/hr. Bought a collector grade 35 Argentine Mauser for 435.00 about 1990ish, a 1908 Brazilian well used was 225.00, some were less than 200.00 back then. Don't remember what I paid for a 96 model Swede, or what mfr year it was, other than I bought it somewhere in the mid 80's, under 200.00 though.
That 35 Mauser is likely 4 or 5 times the price now. Meh.

Rem model 760 pump actions are often referred to as Mennonite Machine guns or the official deer rifle of Pennsylvania. The 7600 is referred to as an Amish Assault Rifle.

I bought a Shultz & Larsen 65 Deluxe in 308 Norma Magnum several years back. Refinished it and gave it to my son. He loves that rifle and has taken several critters witth it. Wonder if it's the same one.... Very high end rifles, and cost 1/3 more than a Weather MK V Deluxe in the day.

I bought every Shultz and Larsen I could find in his store but must have missed that 308NM. When Frenchies burned down in Calgary I drove down for their fire sale in a snowstorm and bought 10 boxes of 308NM brass for 33.50 as they had slight smoke damage. Wish I still had them as they would go for 100 or more per box now.
