Called the Hood press, built by a benchrester, not sure how long its been around, at least since 2015, probably a few yrs before that. I assume Bullet Central was selling them, as they made the vid on it, not on their site now, but they still sell the wood handle for it. Seems like it would be a great range press, designed to be portable,clamp it to the table.Only drawbacl would be cartridge size and price, only good for 308 and they are 600.00US at Arkco Machine, probably a bit heavier than an arbor press for air travel with. Thinking out of the box though;

Certainly see some value in it, seems like one of those items that was maybe too expensive to get talked about a lot outside of a small circuit of people back then. 2002 doesn't surprise me. I expect it'd been around for a while when you got yours.

A similar option made by Harrells Precision, well known in the benchrest game as well. Half the price of the Arkco.

Really don't see an advantage over my Wilson Arbor press unless your only using threaded dies. I wonder if the small hand hole for the sizing die would fit larger hands? And it is a fail as far as a "progressive press" in the two die set up. Just my thoughts maybe in person, this would not be so, but to be honest the "host" nearly put me to sleep about 2 minutes into the commercial.

It would make a nice range press. Or if someone needs to tear down their set up every time they are finished reloading. The "tune able" die nut is a great feature and I would buy it for that feature alone, but in my case shims are much more wallet friendly, seeing as I own a bunch of stuff already.

Looks like that general idea has been knocked around for a bit and there are likely more variations of it around yet, which one is the variation of the original theme would be interesting to know for trivia's sake. Thinking Arkco wants too much loot for the extra features which are not necessarily well thought out in terms of versatility.
