Kind of a diy system. You just need someone to swim down and hook the truck. Looks like a hydraulic winch? Definitely pretty neat.

Fishing for trucks…what lake is this, I’m only getting Kia’s, Volkswagen’s, and the odd Pinto here and there where I’m at!
Cool pictures TM…

I saw a video (can't find it) where it seemed to be in Russia and they retrieved a Honda CR-V or similar using a simple improvised winch. The winch was a log/pole put in a hole drilled into the ice, it had another log roped to it in a T configuration. Two men would push each side of the lever (total of 4 men pushing) and spin the winch axle/ log by walking in circles. A rope is tied low to the ice around the axle and hooked to the vehicle. other logs guide the vehicle up like ramps as the men rotate the axle. Just needs rope, logs and manpower, plus a means to drill the hole for the winch axle, which of course would be part of the ice-fishing gear present anyways.

Ooof that must be costly. I was watching that North Woods Law show and sorta the same thing happened, except it was a ski-doo that the guy tried to ride across the river. He never made it and it sank on site. Come spring the conservation officers made him remove the ski doo which involved hiring some divers to locate it and attach to it. I can't remember the exact price but it was somewhere around the cost of the sled. Imagine losing your sled and having to pay same price to remove it. This looks much more involved then what I seen so I cannot imagine how much that cost this guy.

It appears that the passenger door and the windshield didn’t fair so well…. Hopefully everyone got out okay.

Happened to a guy I know on Ghost Reservoir a few years back. 70k loaded pickup, both of them able to get out ok and gobsmacked the electric windows worked.

IIRC it cost about 13-14k for recovery.

How about now?

Nope. It would stay at the bottom. Report it stolen. Not paying 15 grand to fish out a 1200.00 Ford…lol

I bet that would be costly:)

With today's electronics, write off I would think, even if nothing else suffered.
