One thread I read was noting that he was supposed to be meeting a supporter of his on the US side & they contacted authorities when it was clear that Johnston was lost. Imagine not being able to find a waypoint in the USA with the technology available in a smartphone, yet running for the mayor of Calgary?

The same thread had someone claiming that Johnston was staying at Art Pawlowski's house, whether or not that is true is uncertain, but Art did have Johnston's mayoral campaign signage on his fence.
