I have two fishing cameras that have the RCA video output (yellow plug). I've never really worried about recording the video but my kids want to see if they can record some of the footage now. If anyone is still using this older video out system, what are you using to record the video? I have heard good things about the AverMedia game capture device but then I have to also bring a converter to convert the RCA to HDMI, and have to power that converter on top of the capture device. Does anyone use any simpler options that require less cables and powering different devices?

i found one on amazon you can also google for "portable analog video recorder"

I can't help you with the RCA stuff, but the AVerMedia LGP2+ (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0763TFZWT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1) is indeed the way to go for newer units with HDMI outputs. Jay Siemens has a video about rigging it up to his AquaVu (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-W5O6zybSFw) that may give you some ideas. Good luck. :)

Thanks for the tips. I’ll see what I can find. If that doesn’t pan out, I guess I may just have to got the video converter to HDMI route. Should be able to rig everything up into a battery box to connect to the cam if it comes to that.

I use the Pyle Recorder from Amazon to record my Marcum VS485c camera. It has both analog and digital inputs with a built in converter and saves to an SD card. Its not as robust as I would like for repeated outdoor use, I broke the RCA connector on the first trip, but comes with almost everything you need except the RCA cable to connect the camera to the recorder.

Make sure you connect the cables firmly or the image recorded may have horizontal lines in it, like an old VCR but otherwise it works well.

Thanks for the info. A capture with analog inputs seems to be the best option to avoid the additional devices and cables. I’ll have to try that out this season.
