Hello, anyone know any gun smiths that do barrel and bolt fluting in southern or central Alberta? Have a tikka T3 I’d like to have done. Thanks in advance!

I think Henry Remple does fluting. He is in Langdon.

Wasn’t there a guy on this forum who did bolt fluting? I remember seeing a thread or two and some beautiful pics. Trying to recall his handle, but drawing a blank. Not sure if he did barrels. But bolts looked amazing.

That was Scotty454. Unfortunately he is no longer able to do this.

^ Yes, that’s the guy. Too bad, people seemed to be pretty happy with his work and pics looked great.

If Cement Bench says Henry Remple, I would listen. Henry is a very good smith. It s not hard to send the barreled action in the mail.

Thanks for the info guys. Henry is going to straight flute my barrel but isn’t able to spiral flute the bolt. I found KS arms does spiral bolt fluting and will be sending it to them.

Thanks.

You could always call them and ask?

I could. But someone could also post what they paid (and not necessarily at KS) and then I wouldn’t have to call and have an idea what it costs at various places and so would others. No?

Never done, so have no idea even, but thanks for the help.

From here, January 2019:

Any suggestions for gunsmiths capable of bolt and barrel fluting? Coralanes is pretty expensive and US options like Kampfeld have issues shipping gun parts back to Canada. There must be someone reputable out there that can spiral flute a bolt for a reasonable price. $250 for a bolt does not seem reasonable to me.

Blue Chip Precision responded and the prices are quite reasonable in my opinion. $140 for spiral bolt, $140 straight barrel, $175 spiral barrel, plus discount if multiple work performed. Located in Edmonton.

Anyone else have experience using them? Picks of his work on Facebook look great but limited.

I just had KS arms flute my bolt, thread my barrel for a muzzle break and made me a break for my 7mm tikka superlite. Price was around 260-280 for the break and machine work. I am pleased with the work.
