went out this morning for a few hours, the wind hadnt picked up yet so I decided to try my microlight rod with 4 pound line, Ive been wanting to catch a pike on it for a while now. I ended up catching 7 on that rig, with 4 pound test, til I caught a larger pike that wrapped around my anchor rope and broke off, then went back to the ugly junior and caught 5 more. Biggest on the 4 pound rig was 5 pounds 3 ounces, and it was hooked in the side, put up a great fight. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=2198768&l=234f4470e7&id=508169196

not bad for a rod rated for 1 to 4 pound line and 1/80 to 1 1/16 oz lures.
For those who say its hard on the fish in warm water :tongue2: doesnt take long to bring them in when you know how to use light gear, and none of them were the worse for wear when I released them!

it certainly is. Kind of wish I had at least seen the one that broke me off, felt way bigger than the 5 pounder. but thats the chance you take with the light gear, I wouldnt have the anchor in usually, but it was very windy that day. Oh well, go for a rematch next weekend, I want that Canadian flag len thompsen back :D
