Good day boys and girls.
I just got the go ahead to host our 2nd Groundhog Shoot to be held on April 23rd 2022. Last year’s event was a blast.
This is a Benchrest style shoot with paper targets at 100m & 300m. Steel groundhog silhouette at 500m & 600m.
2 classes. Varmint and Open.

Check out Rocky Rod And Gun club website for rules and registration form.

Can someone comment more about this shoot? Ie is it non match shooter friendly? Factory rifle non reloader friendly or more for the mid/high end crowd? A lot of people get intimidated away from events because they think they won’t fit into the skill level.

as with most competitions, you can look at your entry fee two ways.

you can enter thinking your all that and a bag of chips, and plan on schooling the rest of the shooters while having fun.

or you can enter as a novice with curiosity and a love of shooting and hanging around like minded people who are always more than ready to help out if needed.

a factory rifle, with factory ammo, and a bipod can have every bit as much fun as the guy with $5k into his kit.

it's a great day, good people, always lots to learn, and plenty of low scores on everyone's card at some point.

so if your the type of person that can't stand to show up, have fun, and potentially go home near the bottom of the heap, competition may not be for you.

if your curious and like to learn, it's one of the best places to get your feet wet.

if need more info, contact backwoods runner, great guy to have in our sport.

if you haven't' visited the rocky range, your in for a treat, they have done a great job with the facility.

I show up at these shoots with the thought that I’m going to get schooled at every pull of the trigger.

The reality is Uber competitive people seldom enjoy these events, as the only person you should be competing against is yourself.

It’s also an excellent social atmosphere and opportunity, where connections and friendships are developed.

Rocky has a great facility, and the event organizers are down to earth give back to the shooting sports types, who put on one heck of an event.

Would be a very interesting shoot if we have this gusty wind like today. Holy crap. Might be a bit of cross firing.
