I would like to replace many of my treble hooks on my Rapala crankbaits with inline crankbait hooks. Few local shops seem to carry these. Can anyone recommend a local (Calgary) shop that would have these?

You need to match the weight of the hooks or you can effect the action
Too heavy will deaden the action too light will open up the wobble or blow it out. Crankbaits are balanced to achieve a desired action

Yes, I was told of this. Is there a chart to show the conversion?

if you get the variety pack I linked, you can experiment with the different sizes until you get them tuned

Could one not just weigh them on a reloading scale and match to closest weight?

This is true if you are just doing a straight retrieve of trolling at a constant speed with no variations. If you are varying your speed of retrieval or if you are casting and adding in twitches, snaps, etc. to your retrieve then it really isn't an issue. I have added lighter and heavier inline hooks on rapalas, and i have not noticed any difference. Saying that, I am constantly changing the speed and action of my bait though, even when I am trolling with the big motor. Just adds more action to the lure and seems to attract even the negative fish to bite once in a while.

I have considered just snipping or bending in two of the hooks, not sure if it would work.

Oh there is still a difference but the level will vary depending on the crankbait too. Remember you are talking to an OCD lure builder as well. What you may deem except able for action I may not lol
Some crankbaits are more forgiving too

Easiest method that wouldn’t impact action

I have had good success with the VMC inclines that are run on the rapala saltwater X-raps. Rapala.ca. Their online shopping is very quick and easy too

There are some things that are not on the interweb
There are some things that are on the interweb that are trash
This is one thing that if it is on the interweb I would treat it as trash
The only way to do this is to replace the treble hook you took off with single hook of the same weight
Get out your scale or just blunder through it
