Hi everone,

As the title says, I'm looking for someone to a fix hairline crack in laminate stock.

Rather than try it myself I would rather hand it to someone with experience. It might be best to insert some pins to add strength so I'm not really set up to doing it myself. I also don't want to try inserting glue into a very narrow gap and cause an unsightly mess.

Would appreciate recommendations of who you have had good experience with.

Thanks in advance for your input.

If your stock is splitting along the lamination lines you may have a much larger problem than just gluing the first crack. A properly laminated stock should in general be impossible to crack along the lamination lines, depending on where the crack is located. Would need more info to know whether you have a bigger problem.

If you can't fix this one yourself, I would price out a replacement Boyds stock, in all likelyhood it will be close to the same price as a professional fix. For this kind of fix Bob Galloway or Rod Henrickson would be good options.

Thanks Dean,

I gave Rod a call. I'll bring it to him and see what he says.

Much appreciate.

A few years ago I received a rifle in the mail with a stock broken in half. Very un-fun.

I took the stock to a cabinet maker, basically a finishing carpenter. He repaired it perfectly and did it right. He put a wooden pin in to join the broken pieces together.

The stock is as good as new and I'd have to look really hard to see the original break.
