Anyone ever have any luck filling their general Elk tag in 312, west of Millarville?

not too many around anymore with all the acreages. There are some there and have had some encounters but not too many. You will have better luck west of turner valley, if you can get on some private land or the grazing leases. Don't bother trying the Bar-N but if you can get something around there it can be good. There are lots of elk in that area and bigger tracts of land.
last year I found a bull, with 20 cows but he was on the quarter north of me and wouldn't come across the fence. That's part of the problem, small parcels and you need lots of access to chase them.

Thanks, good to know.
I have been hunting white tail for the last four years in a couple different spots west of the 762 and have had pretty good luck. I have always wanted to hunt for elk and was thinking about it this year.... I was out scouting a couple nights ago and saw about 10 cows with a nice 6x6 in a field next to one of the properties i hunt.... do u know if they stick around till nov. or buggar off west to the hills..??

My experience is that they tend to hang around during archery season and once the lead starts flying they get moving and keep on the move. There gets to be a big piece of luck involved in that are they going to be on the property you have access to on the day you go out.

I know years ago that the trhee point creek had some public access land you my want to pick up the county map and see if there is any community pasture /crownland marked off.

if you're going to do that and are looking for elk I would be looking south of Millarville between there and west of TV.
