I was watching a video on Youtube about fishing Kokanee. The host was using a clip system that allowed him to send his lure back down without retrieving the ball. I of course can't find the video again.
Is there a technical name for these that I can google.

Yup kind of cool they use a shower curtain ring . I have never tried it with my down riggers . I normally don't double stack mine .

Kokanee bite light allot of the times, rip their lips off if settings to high. I find using a planner board release just about perfect for kokanee. big shower ring curtain and rubber pinch. as afyi good to slip a piece of foil/hard paper in between when storing so rubber doesn't over time melt together lol......

We do the same thing offshore running house planers. The planer is tied off to the transom and lines are sent down via paper clips or shower curtain clips. As with outriggers, the fishing line is attached to the clip via the appropriately sized rubber band. For my line class and choices of baits/lures that’s either a #16 or #32 rubber band. The planer isn’t retrieved until the end of the day unless we choose to back down on a fish.
I rarely use my downriggers because there is to much blowback at 7 knots. When I do because I’m slow trolling livies I just retrieve them on each strike as they’re electric but I still tie the line off via a rubber band.

I don’t do anything with my rubber bands but keep them in the cabin out of the sun and a few on my wrist for immediate use. They’re $3 per 100 gram box or $8 for half a kg which is literally thousands of them and I go through several doz a day. That said, talcum powder will help preserve them.
