Sns2 and myself both had hectic days, so we headed out to Pigeon Lake for the evening. Almost nobody at the launch , so no waiting putting the boat in or taking it out. The lake calmed to almost glass, and the new boat worked well, except for the asinine fishfinder constantly going into simulation mode. In 2-1/2 hours we landed 26 walleye in the 2-3lb range, and it was a relaxing way to unwind. Things did get a little tense on the way home though, when I slowed down for two deer and a car coming towards me didn't. He launched one deer about 20 feet in the air, and it passed within 6 feet of me in the air.

Pigeon in the summer is insane fishing. Winter there are days you have to work to catch a fish. Great Lake to take kids to in the summer.

Sounds like a great time. Those are nice sized Walleye.

What did you get for a boat Elk?

Pigeon on a weekday, is a great place to test a new boat. I ordered a Lund Rebel with a 90Merc last summer, and this was the first trip out. Liking both the boat and outboard after the first trip. The boat is a nice size for 2-3 people, and the engine is quiet, planes quickly and cruises at 32mph at 4400rpm, which is as fast as I took it, as break in is a max of 4500rpm for the first two hours. And it fits nicely in my garage, with the tongue folded . Definitely too small for a family, but ideal for me.

Lunds are awesome boats. You’ll enjoy that one for many years to come. What were the walleyes biting on if I may ask?

Sns2 used leeches and Gulp minnows, on a jig, I used half of a frozen minnow, on a yellow lead head, last night they preferred minnows.

Congrats on the new boat sounds like a great day.

I'm assuming a 16' with a windshield given the horsepower rating. You are right two to three is probably ideal but in all reality they are pretty capable boats and I see four even five on boats like that all the time. When I was a kid we would put three overweight adults and a couple kids on a 14' tinner with a 15hp and not a thought lol.

Currently the wife, two kids and I fish out of a 16' and getting to the point where an upgrade is going to be needed in the next couple years but being a tiller it really maximizes room and isn't to bad at all right now pretty happy with it.

Back at Pigeon after the rain yesterday, and a slower bite, a couple of pike, and 15-20 walleye. I did notice that there is some green already showing up in the water.

Check on government website, I heard something on the radio about fecal bacteria.

We're headed to Pigeon Lake PP next week for a week of camping. I'll be taking my float tube and I've never been there before. Any suggestions for a nice sheltered bay or within 200-300 m from shore to target would be appreciated. I'm very cautious and I'm not getting out too far. Thanks!

just off the beach at the pp campground there is a drop off that's popular with the walleye crowd .

The Lund Rebel is a great boat. I have a whole spreadsheet made up as I'm shopping for a tiller boat for a year or two from now. If I stay at 16', the Rebel is near the top of the list....85" beam, built-in fuel tank, bow live well, and 7'6" rod storage. I prefer it over the 1675 Pro Guide myself. Congrats on the purchase and the successful break-in. :happy0034:

I am totally satisfied with the boat, very comfortable for three people fishing, rides smooth, and very stable for the size. And the 90 planes quick, does 40mph, and is smooth and quiet.

75 of these one after another after another. Such fun, especially cuz my boy could finally make it. 60 minutes from our house. Thanks, Elk.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220719/4800d40e043016d945012bc1670b7886.jpg
