We've got a family bbq to attend, otherwise I'd be into it. I'd much rather be fishing

Are you fishing in the actual park or on the bow? Not that it matters. If in the park, how's the fishing there these days, I haven't been there in a long time.

Sure I'll try it out. I've never caught any perch in there just pike and in the real small pond closer to the parking lot. When you heading down?

well i dont know, i have to find a way down there, hard to get there on the bus on sundays and i live in marlborough park....kind of a pain really, but it's probably the easiest one to get to, never had any luck at glenmore and it would take like 2 hours to get there
you caught fish in the little ring pond by the parking lot??i didnt think there was anything in there

Glad to see you got down there :)

Went to the bbq, and I'm now stuck making crab apple jelly. Not sure how that happened.

I've burned my casting hand with steam!

baitfisher83
09-13-2009, 09:58 PM

DarkAisling

No kidding . . . it's my index finger that I burned, too (and quite badly).

I may have a jar or two of jelly for you next time we fish together . . . it looks like I might wind up with a lot of it.

Were you using pickerel rigs with worms again? Did you try the pond by the parking lot, and the one by the Bow, or stick to the one in the middle?

baitfisher83
09-13-2009, 10:06 PM
we stuck with the middle one, as for the one by the bow, we went to the y of the bike paths on the north end of the middle pond and couldnt see the other pond......and yeah, worms again

I am not a fan of live bait.

Baitfisher isn't as non-obliging as she seems . . . I was quite insistent that she take my first walleye off the hook for me, and she did.

My 13' crappie rod showed up today. I'm hoping to try it out at Carburn this next weekend :)

Damn I'm jealous, I waited too long to decide to buy one and they were on backorder so most likely it won't arrive for fishing the Crow this weekend :(

Did you get a tippet as well or not bother?

Sorry for the confusion! I've ordered two rods. One was a 13' Shakespeare Wonderstick (around $14). That's the one that's here.

My tenkara rod (the Ayu) isn't here yet. I'll let you know as soon as it arrives so you can have a look at it, if you're so inclined. If you want one to use at Crow this weekend we might be able to work something out (you promise me your first born, or the Ayu you've got on the way, if it doesn't come back in one piece ;))

According to the tracking info it was accepted by Canada Customs on Friday. I just need to wait for them to do their thing. I was hoping I'd have it today. Maybe tomorrow? I have the white line and the 6x tippet coming with that.

I'm thinking I might want to do some fishing at Carburn tomorrow or Sunday. I want to try out this Wonderstick thing . . . to see if it was worth the 14 (or whatever) bucks :)

Have to check with the other-half to figure out exactly when I can head down there, as he'll have to watch the little one. Young Master G is teething badly and has been keeping us up all night for three nights now. Not sure if I'll be great company.

Nice size.

Some seem to have occular degeneration disease...

Careful about handling them in case it is contagious...

Are you being silly? It looks like she removed an eye to use as bait, but I don't see anything else wrong with their eyes. Is there something I'm missing?

No fishing for me tomorrow. I don't have anyone to watch the little one :( Sunday looks like the weather is going to be pretty crummy.

Where is carburn??

Carburn Park is in the community of River Bend, here in Calgary.

http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=&ie=UTF8&ll=50.975129,-114.031391&spn=0.016024,0.055575&t=h&z=15

Perch can be found here, as well as pike.

Well, I certainly won't be there today. I don't know about tomorrow yet . . . all depends on how much hubby gets done on the job site today. It is unlikely for me, I think.

Sorry, when I first mentioned this I figured I could get away for at least one day this weekend. My bad. :(
