Protest pushes Alberta workers home

Dozens of Alberta workers are being flown back from New Brunswick after being swarmed by protesters from the local workforce, who claim the westerners stole their jobs.
Tradespeople from Alberta-based Integral Energy Service Ltd. were flown to Saint John 10 days ago after being hired by SNC-Lavalin to help complete a liquefied natural gas plant, belonging to Irving Oil.
But, a growing group of protesters gathered outside Hotel Courtenay Bay where up to 100 Alberta workers were staying until being pulled from the project and transported to Moncton.
Andrew Dawson, Atlantic Canada representative for the Canadian Office of the Building and Construction Trades Department, calls the protests a cry for help. Dawson says he thinks the out-of-province workers were brought in to keep budget costs down.
SNC-Lavalin issued a statement, saying it was disappointed with the protests. (The Canadian Press/Calgary Sun/bp)

So how would things go if we punted maritimers out of our province?
For one, we'd lose a sizeable population, and I'd lose some good friends.
I can see getting mad about foreign workers, but geez, what a bunch of wussies. Maybe they're worried they'll have to go off of EI and try to get a job!

Well we have to get more revenue somehow, to help offset the money we send out to them in the form of equalization payments:rolleyes:. I think those picketers would rather prevent others from working than actually pick up a blasted tool themselves.

Make a note of how much money we send those buggers per capita annually. Oh how they would cry if that particular well were to dry up:evilgrin:. Hypocritical freeloaders, the lot of them (picketers and union socialists..... not the good New Bruswickers that actually went to work and made an honest living that day)

HEY! There's a concept! General tags for everything, it doesn't even have to specify the critter on the tag; one flat rate, you go out hunting and anything suitable that crosses your path gets new ankle jewellry:D.

And when I visit Ft. Mac, I wouldn't be wondering why everyone is saying "bye bye" to me when I hadn't announced that I was leaving yet.

Stupid union tricks. I'm a damn proud Albertan who arrived here in 1995 from the Maritimes. After seeing this story today, I feel nothing but embarasment and shame................and disbelief in such ingratitude.:(

Typical mindset of many maritime socialists who figure they are entitled to stay home and collect EI benefits or welfare rather than work. I think Albertans going there and working has embarrased them about their work ethic. All the good maritimers who want to work either already have jobs or have left to find one somewhere else. I left 30 years ago and haven't been back for over 20. I listen to 'friends' whine when they call from back there. I tell them to get out west and find a job, shuts them right up, they don't call much anymore, lazy bums.
