Anyone had any luck? Going to head up to bowmont park tonight to try and catch some browns. Using Countdowns & Xraps.

you could also try just upstream from the railroad bridge in Bowness, some huge Browns in there too. off the big rocks.

Well I got out at 6:30pm tonight and it was great caught two nice browns, one being borderline trophy at an estimated 20 inches.

As I have stated this is my first season on the Bow and have been fishing downtown to get my fix over the last month. Below is the only fish I have landed at lunch, my first trout:

I was watching a couple anglers down by the deerfoot rail bridge.
I was working and always watch out for them, unfortunately they were in the wrong spot, lol.
I always have a birds eye view from the loco, and usually I see a few big fish on the south side of the bridge close to the middle.

Hope you weren't the ones i saw fishing just shy of an awesome hole.

awesome fish jriad, I think you should start coming to SE/SW part of the river, last night from 7pm-10pm I've had eight fish, lost three and pulled out 5, 4 browns and one rainbow(rainbow hit the last around 9:45pm). Use a crank that has a single ball knocker and goes just below the surface, cast it, tighten the line and then just give rod tip a shake every little bit keeping the line tight...when it hits it hits like a train. I'm using an 8'6" 1oz heavy/xfast rod and I loosen my drag almost completely, the only way to keep a fish on, as soon as you hook em they're airborne, and they like to stay in the air.

Jriad if you want to join me sometime we could hit couple of spots at night, i'm out every other nite.

Here's my biggest for this year, a brown buck...

What AWESOME Browns!!!! Ya I know the south side has the monsters, just tough for me to sneak away with my young family as I love playin with my kiddies. Since the Bow is closing form the Damn to the Weir until November I think I'll have to hit up the south side to get my fix in. DAMNIT I cant believe I didnt take advantage of the Bow until now.

Whats that crank called? I caught my Browns on the CD9 Rainbow between 7-8pm. BTW there seemed to be a deadtime during twilight (i.e the fishing were jumping like crazy during evening which is when I hooked on....but after that nothing) I dont think I waited long enough..... I stopped fishing at about 8:30 (started at 7)

Oh and how big was the rainbow and did it hit the crank as well? I havent pulled a rainbow out yet.....

Damn I love fishing.

I've used bomber long "A" of 10cm (smallest i think) with black back, orange belly and silver sides. I've caught that rainbow the last which surprised me, never had a rainbow this late. Let's just say that from the moment I hooked him he did 4, 3 foot jumps while shaking his head like a madman. Last week I had one rainbow which jumped almost to my height, he surprised me and i didn't set the hook so that one got away.

The moment that leaves start yellowing is good time to start evening/night fishing. 1/2 hour before dark and well into the night. Important thing is to find a good hole and a position from which you can cover the whole area. This way you don't have to walk around too much and you can always take half hour breaks and let the fish recuperate. Last night I had nothing from 7-8:30pm, then as soon as the wind stopped it was almost non stop till 10pm. Don't just cast and hope the fish will run into your lure. Carefully observe your spot, wait for the fish to show itself then figure out how to approach without spooking it, usually when you cast to the rising fish it will take the lure. If it is a male brown it can get pretty crazy(and big!), they're looking for prime spawning beds, and when they find one they guard it from anything that comes along, hitting a lure like a freight train.

I've had a few really big ones but no luck pulling them out, guess they caught me by surprise.
