:mad3::mad3::mad3: Hi I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had a terrible experience with the gun shop in Ardmore like I had today!!! I have never been treated like this in my life and dont know how that man has ever sold any guns. I took my ruger 10 22 in to see if he had any answers about my scope mount being loose. He took my gun and glued the screws into the holes above the action of the gun and gave it back to me with a big glue run down the side of the stock..... I didnt say anything but it sure looked like poor work.. I then tried to open action with the lever and it had gotten glued solid.. I showed him and he blamed it on me and said it was dirt inside but it had always worked before for me. He took the gun and began to loosen the glue with a hammer and screw driver wow what a blacksmith. After an hour of fighting with it he finally gave the gun back to me and it is still sticky the glue buildup is jamming the gun. I still cannot believe his actions and I now have a gun that dosnt work. All I can say is wow what a busines man!!!

sounds like a hack to me . glue on scope screws? I'd clean it all off and never go back there

I'm guessing he was trying to use loc-tite, which some guys use on their base screws. Sounds like a sloppy job though.

Loctite?

Hope it's not the green stuff. (IIRC green is permanent!)

I de-loc-tited the break bosses on the front fork of one of my mountain bikes once. It took a lot of heat. I don't remember if it was green, though. I thought it was blue, but I didn't look too closely.

Blue is meduim strength, red is high strength and green is usually used for sleeve retaining.

I have bought from Don. I was extremely careful about selection, he has had real junk and nice guns there at the same time.

Don never ripped me off, but he makes an attempt to 'guilt me' into buying if I ever show interest in a gun, going into how everyone that promises to buy never comes back, etc.

Don's prices are always flexible, but if a scope is on a gun, it goes with the gun. It is the way he gets rid of all the junk scopes, Russian knockoff scopes of which he has cases full.

I never got Don to do any smitty work, so I can not attest to his skills, but it sounds like it is lacking. Too bad, I kind of like the old fella.

It was some kid of glue I am not sure what kind.. its clear. I tried to remove it from the stock with goo gone didnt budge. Last night I took the gun apart and the pins that hold the ction to the trigger feel right out... I saw him filing the pin holes so when in place they would not force the firing pin into the glue on the roof of the action.... Man am I choked but what do you do he made it out to be my fault that the action was dirty.. then he thretend
to kick me out so I just took me gun and left..

I have tried to deal with Don...he very seldom budges off his price, which are outrageous anyways. He's full of stories as well (mainly bull****). He claims to have killed numerous wolves with his 17 hmr??? I found him arrogant and extremely hard to deal with. I've been to his shop about 3 times in the last 3 years and it looks like his inventory is getting bigger, I don't think he sells many guns.

The pins fall right out of my 1022 as well when the action is out of the stock and no one has ever filed them out, I doubt it is a problem. He may be a hack but didn't cause that to happen imo. Could be he used an epoxy on it.

the pins were tight before and had to be tapped lightly into place before
