In our grade 8 class we had to write a poem this is what I wrote.
My First Whitetail
By: Jake Schutz
The blood in my body was dashing around,
As I pulled the trigger and observed it go down.
She was no more then 30 yards away,
When I shot her with a 20 gauge that day.
We drove in to an oil lease at 11 o’clock.
Went a ways, turned the corner, and saw her walk.
I shot it right in the shoulder,
And it was only mid October.
I whispered in joy,
To my grandpa Lloyd.
Because he was the one that was with me,
On that cold October journey.
Although it was only a female,
I felt like I shot a trophy Whitetail.
When we weighed the meat I was delighted to see,
That I would have 60 lbs of sausage for me.
Yes he was an immense doe,
And I take pride in shooting him a year ago.
