Cold Lake, hands down, 25 lb lakers, 15+ lb pike, jumbo perch, 5 lb walleyes and the best thing about Cold Lake is that these numbers are the average, catching bigger is common and catching all kinds of fish is very common.Amazing lake

How hard is it to get out to the fish on cold lake without a 4x4 or a sled?

Cold Lake for the same reasons tyee33 mentioned. Lac La Biche lake for accessibility and big Pike!

I'm a big fan of Gull lake but really want to hit Cold lake this winter and give the flasher a work out!

A flasher is definately a must when the lakers are at 125 ft on the bottom, by far my best investment has been my Vexilar FL-18.Depending on how much snow we get, a sled or 4x4 is not always required.4 years ago, Cold Lake was like a massive skating rink, last 3 years, 3 ft of snow, hard to predict. All depends where you want to fish, last year my quad was useless out there, high centred everywhere, my Cummins with all tires chained up, same, useless. As of now, we have hardly any snow here and -5 at night, fishing usually fires up on new years for me.

I have a FL-18 as well, best thing I ever bought for ice fishing. Last year up at Slave we caught a few whites about 20' off bottom that we nver would have known were there. The old Vexilar almost seems like cheating some times!

For northern lakes Blacket lake,, great little walleye lake one of the best..

Down south I have sort of made 40 Mile Res my home.. Again great walleye holes I have not been skunked there yet. And the ling fishing seems pretty good as well.
