Morning,
Wondering if any of you folks use these sonar flasher units in alberta.
Do they scan to the sides or just straight down.
My concern is most of the lakes up here aren't that deep, so would your veiw be very small.
Any help would be great. If you are using one, what type do you use/like??
Thanx in advance,
:evilgrin:Ken:evilgrin:

I use my flasher even in 5 ft of water and it works good. I have a Vexilar FL 20 with the dual degree transducer. It has a 9 and 19 degree transducer angles. This means 2 different sized cones. The 19 degree has about a 6 foot cone in 20 FOW and the 9 about 3. I use mine all the time because it just helps me catch fish. You can tell their mood and how they are reacting to your bait and then you adjust accordingly and catch fish. I can say my catch rate tripled since I got the vex. Staring down a hole is OK, the underwater camera is good but the vex is just plain awesome. Its got a low power mode which is good in shallow water. People love their marcums but I;m in the vex boat.

Take a look at some of the vids on Youtube of flashers...it should give you a better idea as to how these things work.

I was quite confused about them myself until I checked out the vids...now I want one!

I personally wont go out on Cold lake without my flasher, I see the lakers come in and take the bait at 160 ft of water, even see my jig bouncing off the bottom, amazing toy, best item for deep lake fishing hands down
