The ice is finally coming down south

Went for a drive today to check out some lakes. My favorite has an inch of ice, but weak enough to break thru with just my foot. Same with Enchant Pond. Very little on Little Bow Reservoir, and not much on Travers yet, mostly the bay near the spillway and most of the river.

Nice to see that you guys are getting into the freeze mode.

Our lakes have been frozen for a while now, all we are waiting for is some snow....

lots of fish, just cant get at them yet :) My spot was good for 32 pike one day this fall. gotta love it! hopefully they will be almost as good through the ice, never tried it there.

yeah ice fishing has been great up here.

I've been targeting the brookies up in the Swan Hills, and they have been producing.

I caught and released 45 brookies today, just fantastic!!!!

Smallest was 12 inches, biggests were around 17.5 almost 18 inches!!


Now i just need the big lake to freeze!!

Yes, very exciting! I snuck out on our local trout pond in Strathmore today just to burn a couple holes & field test my new Ice 55:D. 3.25" of ice although there are lots of springs & scary spots still.

Cold weather is finally on the way. Looks like the cold air is finally going to freeze us up. Maybe hope yet to get the shack out.

yesterday it was open , where I took the pics, but not far up and it was frozen towards the lake from the boat launch. I have a feeling it will have at least a bit of ice cover by the weekend, If I make it there again I will let you know for sure. Boss used my canoe to do some work on the dugout today, had 2 inches of ice on it now, so Im thinking the smaller lakes should be pretty much good to go this weekend. The bigger ones will still be a while probably.

I was out at Rattlesnake Lake on Monday morning banging away at some geese and the lake is still open in spots.
Where I like to fish early is still open so last years 1st week of December ice fishing is in doubt.
Going to be in Calgary area next week so I might bring along auger and icie fishing stuff......

Made the second trip of the year to trout ponds near edmonton, kinda lookin for my whitefish tho, Thursday the elusive walleye, the ice is here and only gettin better.

To heck with The ice , Hunting Season's over it can warm back up to + 20 and Give me open water season again . Skip the Cold and Ice wouldn't overly break my heart .
