After a couple of years of talking about it and a few months planning we finally made our first trip to Cold Lake. The winds kept our fishing limited on most days, but we managed to catch a few lakers, nothing to big but it was great to try something new. Most of the fish came on Savant glow spoons, blue and silver spoons and a few on anchovies as well. We got a couple of hits on silver and black cranks as well, but never got any to the boat on cranks. We fished most of the time in 200-250ft of water about 50-80ft down.

My first laker

Great report Bobalong! Glad you had success.

I'm looking forward to my first open water trip to Cold Lake as well. Hopefully this year too.

Cheers!

None of the ones we caught were over the 65cm mark. The regs are one each over 65cm. The fish in the pics varied up to about 62cm. The other boat caught a couple of larger ones and we kept one for a taste. I am not a big fan of trout but it was very good rolled in egg, and fish batter, and deep fried.
