Thinking of trying Long Lake this weekend for first time this year, has anyone been out yet? What's the Ice/Snow conditions for driving on? Any luck with the Perch?
Thanks

Long lake is a great lake. The bigger perch are hard to find and very finicky. My 2 kids had a blast this summer catching and releasing Walleye.:)

Good luck, The Narrows were good 3 winters ago toward the end of the season.

BBM, will be there Saturday as well, in the narrows, not sure which vehicle we will be in either 2010 Tan Ram, or Tan colored Little SUV, depending on snow I guess determines weather we drive on or not, maybe see you there.

There is alot of snow and some flood ice out there. Fished out there for 4 days before christmas, snowed 6 inches. Fished for 3 days after christmas, snowed 3-4 inches. If you go south from the narrows along the right hand side (cabin side) toward the bay where the intake for the ski hill is there is ALOT of flood ice there. I would recommend staying away from that area with a vehicle because you will get stuck. There is about 7 inches of snow, then 3/4 inch of ice then 4 inches or so of water then the regular ice. I would advise avoiding that area, I got stuck with the quad there.

It was slow, caught perch but many many many in the 2-4 inch range. The odd OK sized one would come by. Tried alot of places, probably drilled 200 holes before christmas. Scraped up a couple decent ones but it was about a big one every 2 to 3 hours. Pike were consistant on tip ups but lots of 18-22 inch models coming up, no keepers out of about 80. Closest was 24". Had to pull out all of the tricks to get the perch to bite.
