Meekwap Lake

Has anybody been out there this year? How did you make out if you have been?

quite slow. It used to be a good fishery but seems to have been over fished in the last 5 years.

Wow thats surprising i thought it was a pretty safe lake considering the access and its size.

I was there a couple years ago and we did awesome! a couple over a 1 1/2lb and lots of just nice ones for the pan! The water was really murky and we couldn't see them at all. Is this a regular occurance there? The taxidermist at the time told me guys were releasing 1 1/2 pounders just so they could keep the 2lbs. we never caught any that big but i think the lake could definately hold lots of biggins!

Meekwap is very hit and miss. If you are prepared to check out a lot of spots on the lake, you will usually find some perch. Finding pike is a lot easier..anywhere near the narrows produces lots. Can usually get perch around the island and off the points of the mainland. There are some really big Pike in here as well. Hope that helps.
