So Coyotes averaged 32 bucks. 49 for the best. How do you guys see that? I am new to all of this and I keep hearing yotes are going for 15 bucks or so. Does this mean they are on the upswing or are people feeding me a line of crap?

These prices are for pelted furs. Skinned, cleaned and fleshed, dried, stretched. Then there is the cost of getting the furs to the sale. Most of the coyote prices mentioned on forums here are for whole coyotes.

A couple years ago I was gettting close to $100.00 for the higher grade coyotes. Don't recall my averge then likely $50.00 or $60.00.

2006-2007average price was 76$ and I caught allot of them. The next year I sold in the january sale with a dozen coyotes not many and it was 42$ with allot of really pale ones, after that it made allot of work for little profit. I really like catching Yots because of the numbers but I can do with out all the green bellies till they make it worth while. I do catch a few but they are only in my snares made for wolves that are deep in the mountains and there isent allot of them there.

So how does this work? Who is actually buying the furs? I understand those selling the furs are from trapping, but can anyone come to these auctions and (presumably) buy a single fur?

For example, looking at June 2009 (CDN), there were 23 black bear pelts put up. Could anybody off the street come in and bid on a single pelt?
