Crawling Valley - is it worth the drive?

My buddy and I were thinking of trying CV this weekend. The weather forecast looks great so what the heck? If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve our chances of avoiding the skunk we would greatly appreciate any advice. My buddy would love to see a handsome Burbot, what should we do? By the way, we went down south to Beauvais Lake last weekend and saw a whack of suckers caught, the weather was fantastic to say the least. Tight lines and thanks for any info.

Good time of year to be out but be careful with ice on the edges in this warm weather. We almost got iceberg locked there a couple years back as the shoreline melted in on us during the day. Should see some good pike hits this time of year there.
