2 Special for on the ice.
I have none for fly fishing, Never been Taught,
And 2 of each for anyone else i bring along that dosent own one themselves.
And as for reels. I have no idea.
Just a ton around the garage,

13 spin/bait rods 3 fly rods and a couple ice rods.

I typically use only 2 spin/bait rods an 8'6 shimano for sturgeon and a 6'6 spinning for messing around on the river...the others a re a mix of Loomis bouncing and rigging/jigging lake rods....5wt sage is the goto fly rod.

I'm sure I could narrow it down to 3 rods and be fine 99% of the time...but that would take the fun out of the bi yearly arguments with the misses.

I lost count of how many I own... I have some that are missing pieces, but they make for good parts. I seem to buy a new one every year! I like having 2-3 on hand during any trip.

I have one spin casting rod.

Does 1x2 wood sticks wrapped in line for ice fishing count as rod? Cause in that case, I have about 6 of them!

1 UL ice rod
2 Med ice rods
1 MH ice rod
A couple 6' spin rods always in boat for backup and for visitors.
6'6" walleye angler - ML
7' shimano clarus rod - M (my new bait caster)
7' megaforce daiwa - M (best free rod I've ever had)
6'6" heavy rod that I don't know the make but I used in northern sask, that I use for trolling 3 oz bottom bouncers and big baits :)

The wife has a rod too, some no name push button reel that she like cause she cant use a spin reel lol.

Mna I love fishing. When is the opener?

How many rods do I own? That's like asking a farmer how many horses or cows he has. Not something that I would even tell my closest friend.

Besides, one time my wife asked me that very same question. So I asked her how many pair of shoes did she own. End of conversation and the subject has never ever came up again. :D

Fish on,
Rob

3 fly rods
3 spinning rods
3 tips ups
1 Marmish (never used)
Around a dozen ice rods (which are "mine" but are used by everyone in my family).

Additionally, there are another five rods in the house that are not mine, though I think I purchased all but one of them.

cant tell you cause my missus reads this too  I think Im worse than DA on this occasion. I also have a habit of buying most of the ones I find at garage sales, the older the better , I want to have a wall of old rods one day. Plus I never throw out a broken rod, parts are always handy.

When is too much too much?

Missed your query first time around.

"Too much" is when you can no longer store them neatly and keep them organized.

Well if we're counting tip-ups....have 3 of those as well.

I guess I need another one or two as well. Took out the summer rods from the shed and "someone" broke my slip bobbing rod. I have one to swap but maybe time to get another rod, maybe a shimano voltaeus so I don't break them anymore.

you can never have to much , Like I keep telling myself its an investment . Hell I even have my more expensive gear insured . I dont wanna brag but I sat down when I approched the insurance and for 6 tackle boxes full of gear 3 tackle bags , all my rods , and electronics , Its valued at 11,691 dollars .

I believe it! It's an addiction like gambling. One you start counting it gets scary. But the payoff is much greater in fishing.

I once sat down and tried calculating how much I've spent on beer in my life time. I wish it was only $12,000. :o:o:):o:o
