I solved the mystery of what's-what as far as my fly line goes. I have nothing but floating line! I've no idea what I was thinking when that happened.

Some of it is coming off of the cartridges so I can get sinking on, and I'd like to know what is worth saving. How do you decide when to throw it out?

I was told it's when it starts cracking.

That makes it easy. One of the lines has a little bit of cracking in it.

I throw mine out when it starts to get nicks and cracks. Fly line cleaner and treatment seems to keep it in pretty good shape, but I always seem to get nicks from weird places (ie. stepping on it, hooked around a rock, hooked on something in the boat etc.) I usually get 2 seasons maybe 3.

If your questioning it its probably a good idea to replace it.
