My son and I went out to Chestermere today after work. We met up there at about 4:30pm. We fished at the south end until about 8pm. We had plenty of bites and landed 5 pike. All were given a peek around the area, then put back down the hole. Can you imagine what they must think when they come up out of the ice? It was a bit cooler than yesterday out. But still a very nice evening for March.

The ice is about 24" thick and the top 3 or 4 inches is getting crappy. The north end of the lake has water around the edges. So access is pretty much only on the south end.

Just a heads up, all of PP1 lakes are closed from mar16-may7. This would include chestermere lake.

Chestermere is in PP2 , north of the bow river boundary , and is open all year because its not listed on the page that has certain regs for certain lakes.

Walking buffalo is correct. Chestermere is in PP1 and it's closed. PP1 doesn't end at the bow river, it goes far beyond it.

Only lakes listed in the regs as closed during this time frame are closed, not all lakes in the watershed unit.

Holy Sheep @( %* I got to admit. I did have a look at the regs. But I didn't see that. SON OF A B. Won't make that mistake again. I'll double check and also will call F&W in the morning.

From the 2010 fishing regs.

Even though the 2010 regulations are now available online, are the 2009 regulations not in effect until March 31st, 2010? I was of the belief that the regulations are valid over the same time span as the fishing licenses, which would make the 2010 regulations valid from April 1st, 2010 to March 31st, 2011.

I don't have the 2009 regulations on hand at the moment, so I can't check what it says about Chestermere in there.

Rob, I don't see that there could be anyone on this board who questions your intent. In the event Chestermere was closed, it was an honest mistake on your part. None of us are perfect, and we all make mistakes on occasion.

I do have the PDF of the 2009 regs. Closed Mar 15th. He fished in error, 1 day day. But yeah...honest mistake. Closes early down in PP1 these days.

And yes, the 2010 regs are in effect until april 1st.
