Turns out the lunker pike was landed in the Netherlands by 27-year-old Ewout Blom of Ijmuiden. A hatchery manager at a Dover sole farm near Amsterdam, Blom loves to fish for big pike and he caught his fish of a lifetime with this one. While he never mentioned the name of the actual lake in the story, he did tell the story, along with the actual length, weight and lure the monstrous pike was caught on.

The king Esox measured 127 cm and weighed in at 42.9 lbs. The fish was caught when the water was quiet on a perch pattern Super Shad Rap.
There.

Hmm. 127 cm is 50 inches.

This one out of Cedar Lake in MB is supposed to be around 70 inches (177cm).

I caught a pike 48" No lie, like 14 yrs ago in Northern Manitoba. Was nowheres near the girth of the pike in the OP. Looked like the one in the newspaper add just 22" shorter haha. I couldn't reel it in my mom had to, she was not happy. We were fishing on a river for walleye and told me not to use a red devil spoon, well being the little ******* I was I put on the spoon and flung it out there, as soon as it hit the water and I turned the reel fish was on. What a site for such a young lad to see.

The biggest pike ever recorded was just over 100 lbs.
If memory serves me correctly,it was in Ireland in the late 1800's or early1900's.
It was either netted or found dead on a beach.

A Simple internet search will show all kinds of crap, ya that pic is real...has been out there for a few years nowand is from Holland. European pike are genetically larger the north amercian pike, so they can get that big. Have seen official records up to 55lbs or so form Europe, so if ya want a big, bigger, biggest pike...cross the pond, enjoy the beer and "FISH ON!!"
