I've heard its not open, or close. But lots of open water near the bridge to chuck something into, but not for a boat. I'm sure that's what you're looking for.

It is closed. When it reopens on May 21st there will be plenty of open water ;)

Try Clear Lake instead, someone said that it's all open, but I can't confirm that myself.

Actually it is may 21, and yes you could launch the boat and test it out at PCR when ice is off, you are allowed to boat on water, just can't be fishing. Clear lake is open which is the same distance.
