I just got back from the Ed store and they have the same deal. It is a good price anywhere unless you tie your own.
The store here has them all in little bags of different flies but you can make up your own selection from what you like from each bag.

What is the quality like? Iv never looked at there flys. I Used to tie commercially but aways made sure quality was #1. All my customers said I easily beat places like Cabelas, and other retailers like that. I never found there quality to be that great.
Im actually starting to take small orders, brings in a little extra coin and I just love doing it.

i dont know. appearance wise they look like bugs. if they fall apart after one strike then maybe not such a great deal. i dont know enough about how to spot quality based on appearance other than if they look like bugs.

there is allot to get into when comparing quality, you can go by how its appearance is, or you can look at the grade of feathers used. If you want a good dry fly you want the best grade feathers used for the hackle etc. Quality of feather can make a massive difference. I use nothing but the best.

yeah, sorry. i just dont know how to spot the difference. i looked them over and tried to see if there were loose tag ends or uneven wings or anything obvious, but i dont see that.

Thats the first step;) unless you tie flys I think it its hard to tell quality of feather, that can make a difference to. So many things you could get into.
hope thy catch you many fish:)

:)Always buy what a fish likes, not you. At the end of the day it counts how many times a fish was hooked.

One point I was getting at is if you buy a dry fly hackle and the grade of hackle used for that fly is low quality, your fly wont float for long, and if the fish are hammering drys then you definitely want a good quality dry fly. Iv taught this at a few seminars now and people dont realize how just a certain feather can affect the fly.

i know i was in the middle of the most amazing hatch ive ever seen a few years back on the castle river. i must have caught literally 50 fish in 2 hours or so. all my flies were soggy and wouldnt float anymore. i had no floatant with me....bottle leaked on the trip up. when the flies were on top i couldnt keep em off, but no float...no fish. didnt even matter what fly it was...it just had to float. never saw anything like it before or since. i have at least 5 times as many flies in my box now just waiting for another day like it.
