I worked the afternoon shift this week, decided to get a real early start on the Bow this morning. Hit a stretch south of town.

On the way to the river...

It was a beautiful morning, but a tad chilly at first light. At one point I stepped out of the water to change flies; I guess I stood in one spot too long, 'cuz my felt sole froze to a rock! Thought I was gonna wreck my boot pulling it off; had to stand in the water before that sucker loosened up enough to pry off. Fishing was slow, with only one 17" rainbow to hand on a stonefly nymph; just popped the hook out, & away he went; didn't think it was worth getting my hand wet & cold for a pic. On the way back to the car, I saw lots of prairie crocuses; a sign of spring, yet they were covered in frost...

Drove back into town & fished another favorite stretch; hooked & lost a couple fish, then landed a few of these guys...

Then, I brought this one to hand...

The spots kinda looked like a cutthroat, so I looked for the tell-tale underjaw slashes...

Definitely a cuttie (or cuttbow)...

A first for me on the Bow; made up for a rather slow day...:D

Awesome post Steve, and congrats. Your pics are amazing as always. Just go back and do a quick edit so that the prairie crocuse pics are not listed side by each. :D

I'll post my pics anyway I wish!
Funny thing is, I previewed the post & it showed 'em top to bottom; even when I look at it now, it shows 'em like that. What kinda mushrooms are you eating for your midnight snack?
(Done. Better?:D )

Likely a washed down cutt Rev, very few spots on the gill plates or the top of the head

Nice pics BTW, good to see the obligatory Steve-O flower pictures

Kinda figured it for a cuttbow, Taco; fairly rare to see right in the middle of Cal-gree, anyhoo.
As for the flower pics: as long as there are hills to climb on the way to or from fishable water, I will be looking for flowers to photograph! (Any excuse for an out-of-shape old dude to stop & catch his breath for a minute!:D)

Yeah cutts are rare in the Bow, too bad

Cutbows.. look for white tipped fins

BTW one camera reminder... don't leave it behind somewheres

Very funny, Dutchman!
You know it will just find it's way home, anyway...

(BTW, Taco is referring to the fact that I lost my camera @ the Flyfishing Expo. Fortunately, it was returned to me by the fellow who found it; thank goodness honesty is a prevalent trait in outdoorsmen! Paul Morrell is a guide on the Bow River and a director on the southern Alberta chapter of Project Healing Waters Canada; PHWC serves military personnel who have been wounded, injured or disabled, to aid their physical and emotional recovery by introducing or rebuilding the skills of fly fishing and fly tying and by using and enjoying these skills on fishing outings and as lifelong recreation. Lucky for me that my camera was found by such a stand-up guy & all-around fine human being as Paul!)
Here's a vid about Project Healing Waters (hope this works???)...
