I was out last Monday and didn't catch a thing. I think maybe too early in the season, they haven't stock the pond yet.

Good question!
I was just gonna ask the same question.
Any fish at Dewitt's Pond, Airdrie Pond or Crossfield?
Hope to go out soon. :)

Stocked ponds for the most part are done the Friday of the may long weekend...at least thats my experience in the surrounding areas of Calgary...

DeWitt's was stocked with 1,000 rainbows this past Thursday. Another 1,000 are scheduled to be stocked on May 29th. The Airdrie Hunting & Fishing Association is planning a cleanup and BBQ to coincide with the next stocking.

Ahh Dewitts must be on a different stocking schedule...thought they all got the may long stock...maybe thats just out west then...

Think baitfisher might be right. I haven't seen any word of them stocking Dewitt's yet and there is no new updates on the stocking report. Anyone been out there this last week?

Baitfisher, how could they stock all the ponds in one day? Thats a lot of trucks and trips to the hatcheries.

thier stocking trucks are huge semi type flat decks and they have multiple tanks of various sizes and each tank is filled with a certian amount and they stock multiple lakes or ponds within the same area.sorta like a currier dropping off stuff on one route. at least this is how it was done at the sam livingston when i was volunteering there. i have seen dewitts being stocked once and it was only a single tank truck like a water tanker. so it must be on a smaller scale than the bigger hatcheries.

As of now Dewitts has fish in it confirmed. Either that or the ones i caught today survived the winter :sHa_shakeshout: Break out the fly rods!

Better to pickeral rig or under a bobber?

I was out there on Tuesday AM and there were little ones biting, but I think the key to actually catch them is using a smaller hook ( size 12 or 14 ) on your P rig. I was using dew worms in the hopes of catching last years stock, but too big for the fish in there.

GL to you and your daughter.

let us know how it goes!
I always prefer p rigs off the bottom instead of a bobber

i would reccomend both methods and try both or if you have two kids have one method for each kid then which ever one works change them both to the same method.but for kids the bobber method is much more appealing for them IF the fish are biting.

The Airdrie municipal pond (Nose Creek Pond) was stocked about 3 weeks ago with 500 rainbows.

Hey All.

Now I do understand its later in the season, but was just wondering if anyone has had any luck at Dewitts lately. Getting hard back into fishing and was recommended to the pond by few people and had great reviews. Yet walked away with nothing not even a bite. Now it was really weedie and mossie. Just seeing if anyone had any luck.

Thanks.

To be honest its not worth your time. Weedy , over fished and you can buy bait bigger than anything in there. It really is worth the time and money to head out farther to a more viable fishery

Can't even get so much as a bite at Dewitt's. Anyone have any good recommendations for fishing in and around the airdrie/crossfield areas?
