For most in the south May 8th is the day. Myself I'm heading to SSR to try and nail some sturgeon start at redcliff and see how far I get. Wondering to what the water level is like as well. Anyone else heading to the river for quote unquote opening day.

I'll be in the field this year for opening day, but will be fishing travers soon after.

U betcha! May 8th for sure is like Christmas morn for me (when I was a kid:lol:)! Sooooo many more places to fish open up. I too will be heading down to the SSR. Hope to drop the boat in the water around 5 and have Large Fish On by 7, once we've reached a fav spot. Just got back 10 mins ago from checkin the riv- water level is average which is great! Never got a temp check sry but them fishies are jumping quite a bit if u take a gander in the early morn. I reckon those Sturg are on their way here too, for those wondering? 2 Sturg, 2 Pike, and 10 or so Walters is my goal for that day:) Not likely, but one can dream:D
Good luck out there n stay safe!
Cheers.:)

I will also be at traverse for the afternoon of the 8th after work and all day on the 9th as long as I have my boat then. It may be in a shop getting a bigger motor installed but I am hoping to have it either done before then or shortly after.
