Lookin' for suggestions for a respool of the reel- I enjoy ultralight fishing and like to use thin line. Thanks.

Trilene XL, strong, thin, not to much memory.

try to find out when it was stocked on the shelf it at all possbile. I had some trilene xl on my fly rod for leader line while nymphing on sunday and it was super brittle so I switched it out for my 6 pound xl. Not alot of 4 lbs line moves very fast in the mono so it just sits on the shelves forever.

When buying line always buy the boxed ones. There are stores who buy line on a bulked spool and the uv light will cause the line to become brittle.
If you like ultra light fishin try some 6 or 4 lb berkley fluorocarbon line. There new line that is 100 percent fluorocarbon line seems to have more stretch and give for catching those large trout. Good Luck :)

I can suggest you spool yourself up with a thin superline. Costs more initially but you don't need to respool every year or 2. Buy yourself a tiny spool of fluoro or fluoro tippet and use as a leader. Replace leader as required and replace spool every couple years.

Give Cajun Red a shot. I spooled up one of my ice fishing reels with it this winter and really like it :)

Have to go with flourocarbon, not mono. I like the VANISH brand.

x2 for florocarbon. mono in 4 pound is too weak compared to florocarbon for tieing knots. also love the superlines(fireline)with a florocarbon leader. 10 times more feel than mono or floro.

I used 4lb P-Line CFX florocarbon leader material this winter on my ultra light rods. I had them spooled with 4-6 lb braid, and had 1-2' of the florocarbon for a leader, with a swivel tied in between the two lines. Seemed to work pretty good for me, and I will use it again. I don't have any ultralight rods for summer, but I would go with similar lines if I did.

Maxima Perfexion is the way to go. Low memory, very thin, supple and tough. Its my go to light mono.

Another vote for Trilene. Been using it for 20 years.
