Yesterday, my SIL and I took the ferry across the Athabasca River on our way home from Swan Hills. We noticed alot of fish were rising to the surface and some were even jumping. Would these be grayling? Anyone know how good the fishing is there?

The fish you are seeing are most likely Goldeye, unfortune you have to wait till June 1st, when the river opens for fishing along that stretch.

Thanks for the info. For the next while, my SIL and I will be concentrating on getting him a bear. After that, we'll switch to fishing. I haven't fished much in the last 30 years. What's needed to fish for goldeye? Is there anything else to fish for around the Klondike Ferry?

For the goldeye, use an asortment of small spoons. Five of Diamonds tends to work. Right at the ferry there are some holes on both sides of it. Pike and walleye are in there.
