So I'll be in Nanaimo mid july and am looking to do some salmon fishing and was wondering if anyone knew of a good guiding service, I was thinking Port Alberni. Was really hoping for some sturg fishing.

Give Wayne Bazen a call up in Winter Harbour. Bit of a drive from Nanaimo but worth it if you want fish and that's a good time of the year to be there.
1-250-969-4293. Salmon, Hali's, Lingcod; there all there.

The Port Alberni guys will either be fishing Barkey Sound and offshore, or possibly for sockeye salmon in the canal.

If the sox arent happening, I would go directly out of Bamfield, Ucluelet or Tofino as they will be fishing offshore without the added hour run from Port Alberni.

Great time of the year for spring salmon, and the coho will be in good numbers by then also. Halibut will be happening too.

Try http://www.millslanding.com/ in Bamfield, or

http://www.tofinofishing.com/ in Tofino.

Getting a booking is likely gonna be your biggest issue for that time of the year.

Good luck and have fun!

Who the heck would want to fish Sturg when they could get on to some big springs that time of year.:lol:

Isn't Sarengetti or something like that a guide up in Port Alberni????

We're up in Port Hardy...and that's right in the middle of all the big ol'Chinook swimming through...it's a 3 1/2 hr drive from Nanaimo but won't find better fishing at that time of the year then up our way.
