So I'm headed to winagami lake this coming weekend.
I know the pike fishing is awesome there and the waleye and perch is marginal but I also know that there are tons of yummy whitefish in there.
Problem is I've never fished for whitefish.
I know they are more of a ice fishing catch but can you catch them in the summer? If so any generals ideas?
Any help would be great as I am a total whitefish newb.
Hopefully the algea ain't too bad yet at winagami.
Thnanks guys

Are they usually risers? If so, use a fly.

I don't know the lake, the only other suggestion is that I find they like deep water in summer, like 40+. They can be anywhere in the water column then, usually in the bottom 10 feet. Jigging small spoons with maggots I'd imagine would work. Or bouncing a darter on the bottom. Tough fishing I think though.
