I've got to question some of these numbers....Anyone else shoot or know someone who shot a Non-trophy sheep in 406A in 2009?

2009 Resident Harvest Results

http://www.mywildalberta.com/Hunting/GameSpecies/ResidentHuntersHarvest.aspx

interesting results for suffield elk, antlerless and antlered, 24% success.

Am I really the only one who shot a ewe in 406 last year? 10% success = 10 tags, draw results state 18 tags were given out for 406, A (10) and B (18).

The draw summary list 15 bull elk tags for wmu 418 and the harvest summary list 16 killed with a 35% success rate....I ain't good at math but pretty sure this doesn't add up:confused:

Because then everyone would want to hunt those zones that are the highest percentage thinking they have a better chance of killing one. It would put higher stress in certain zones that way. That;s the only reason i could think of.

I don't know how they get the nubers on these as some years they call the house and ask for what i was successfull in on half of my tags and on other years they don't call at all. Also they ask how many days of hunting a certain species. I don't keep a log book with me for every day out and guess. I am sure my guesses are not all that accurate when I am hunting for 2-3 months out of the year all jumbled up.

The local F&G clubs are no longer allowed to call for hunter surveys. Things are transitioning to an online questionnaire format. Make sure via your WIN card they have an e-mail address on file for you.

Not sure how accurate they can be, says 22 moose shot in WMU400, but there were only 20 tags for 2009, hmmm.

Thanks Duk Dog. I new that it had changed but correct me if I am wrong this upcomming year is the first that it will be done online so those numbers should be from them phoning? Did they do the online thing last year and I missed it?

Ya I did the online survey last year. I believe I received an e-mail after the season was over with a link to a questionnaire based on the tags that I had.

yea especially hard to believe that it says there were 68 bull elk killed in 400 and also 22 bull moose:bad_boys_20:

The reason some of those numbers don't make sense is because there are general archery tags in those zones. I filled out the questionaire and it asks how the animal was taken.

Well then if some of those have general seasons why is there draws in those same wmu's then

Example wmu 108 Elk there were 4 seasons of 3 bull tags each =12 possible
how come it estimates 15 taken

Wmu 300 moose show there were 7tags drawn and 7 estimated to be taken! I dont think so.

WMU 300 elk, I have a hard time believing their were more bulls than cows taken. I guess teh point here is that the estimate should not be more than the permits given out.

Forgive me muleguide I take back what I said ,I looked closer and thought about certain areas, you make sense, it is possible. My mistake:sign0161:

Yeah too bad that it had to go to the online way of things. It was a great source of income form many local AFGA clubs. However I can totally see why online is easier.
However for what ever reason I was not surveyed last year.......?

Well, I wouldn't say great, more like an ok source of income. At least it was that way for us.
