Thanks everyone, I'm up in northern Manitoba for the summer, Fishing Lake Athapapuskow. It's an amazing fishery.

Nice couple of bruisers there. What did you catch em on, and how deep of water?

Also, how do you hold the fish like that? I know you brace it with one hand under its belly, but can you explain to me how you hold its face/head like you are?

I caught an 11 pounder and there was no way I was gonna try picking it up out of the water, I couldn't even imagine doing it with the pigs you have but you make it look easy.

Hahah thanks Steve, Looking forward to pounding some Walleyes next week :character0053:.

AI87: I caught them on crankbaits in 12-16ft of water. About holding them, I just carefully put two fingers under the gills till they stop near the front of the fishes mouth, But its important not to touch the gill itself, and lift with both hands. The only way to get it is by practicing!

Nice.

Were they fighting hard when you hooked into them?

Leon: They hit your bait quite hard, and they usually just stay on the bottom until they want to take a long run, Then you've gotta hang on!! It really tests how good your drag is. I use a 6 1/2 ft casting rod, and 20lb Fireline for Pike, So it's a pretty strong setup, but on spinning gear with 8lb mono, That is really really fun!
