Fishing the Highwood

I have a fished the stretch of the Highwood west of Longview a couple of time but find the cliff-like access a pain. Will go back for the great fishing and beauty but it can be a little treacherous. Has anyone been to this area lately? I find the fishing better when the water flow is slower. I also find moving up and down the river much easier.

Also, has anyone fished east of Longview? I haven't even looked for access but I am curious about that stretch, as the riverbanks look less steep.

i fell in love last fall with the section west of longview. I also find the gettin there a bit of a pain but the fishin is well worth the hike. Havnt fished the section east of longview but i would imagine its easier accsess and equal fishing... good luck .. fish on!

There is very little public access east of Longview. Most land owners will give permission though. There are some good fishing spots but as you get closer to High River it really gets tough. Rick.
