Quick stop between Lethbridge and Calgary

My son and I are heading home to Calgary tomorrow and we are looking for a new place to fish. We have our spinning gear with us from our last trip up highway 40. I was thinking of stopping at Mackinnon flats as I have heard it mentioned a great deal as a spot to pull a boat from the river but don't no what the fishing is like. Does anyone have any advice?

Mckinnon Flats is just that a very flat area of the river. The water is quite shallow. I'd say to park there and walk either up or down river. There are plenty of trails in either direction. You may want to bring some Off or Muskol. The mosquitos can eat you alive down there.

If it were me I'd head up river first.
