The lake I fish in the winter has a healthy population of lake whitefish. I would like to troll a fly in the summer and see what happens. Any ideas on techniques and suggestions for flies to try in the summer?

can be really tricky....if you see them surfacing, match the bugs, if not, try chronimids of a variety of colors, if no surface action, try a deep spot and jig near bottom with a metallic spoon. if you get into them, you'll have a blast!!! they fight like mental!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Troll small small five of diamonds, but watch out for pike! (cause where there is WF, pike are sure to follow)
In the territories this summer I caught a nice one on a bead head prince nymph. Hang on tight though, took a while to get that guy in the boat!

I use a lot of back swimmers and scud missles, as well as hair's ear nymphs.

Pheasant tails and chironomids have worked on a ghost tip. They are spooky so long casts and silence help.
Look for skating caddis and if their there put on a ginked up goddard and skate it back on a floating line of course.

I like dragging along a couple of shrimp patterns. If they dont work, try leech, and water beetle imitaters. A small indicater floating at the start of your leader. You won't feel them but they will pull under a small float. Also a great way with a spinning rod.
