Fishing at Lake Diefenbaker last week and to my surprise I caught my first sturgeon. Weighed about 20lbs, wasn't cooperating on the scale and was seeing 17-30 lbs(42 inches in from nose -fin tip ) and just wanted to get him back in the water after a quick picture. Only had 6lbs test to use as I wasn't expecting anything too large.

Going to be hard to top that this summer but doesn't mean I am not going to try! Must do that again!

Biggest walleye was 4lbs, so wasn't all that bad I will post some pics of them when I can. I need to find me a 42 inch walleye now :P That surge of adrenaline I got when the sturgeon took off on me makes it addicting. My first thoughts were that I hooked a massive walleye, cause it didn't fight like a Jack. But hell, there was no disappointment to see it was a sturgeon.

Gonna guess worm or minnow, Sturg won't nibble anything else. Tried everything but hope I stand corrected.

yeah, used 1/4 oz knuckle ball hook and baited with salted minnows.

Also, was caught in 17 ft of water, surface temp 72 degrees, partly cloudy evening.

sounds like pretty good conditions. Stay with the minnows, Big eaZy if u can find them. Hide ur hook, keep tossing. Patience is truly a virtue when it comes to the sturg......but they will come.

P.S. - great name:)
