WE got this guy yesterday in clear lake :)! 24 pounds and 39 inches. just a beefy fish. Unfortunatly he swallowed the rapala and we had to keep him because he was bleeding bad. However, we took him home and deboned him and had some great breaded fish. it was tender moist and flaky.. didn't taste like a jack at all.. 11 pounds of boneless fillets :)

I am planning a trip out to clear and was wondering if they are shallow or deeper, what types of lures have had success on?

Thanks.

thanks guys. Caught him on a 6 inch blue and orange floating rap. Just kept it moving across the weeds with a small split shot on it to keep it below the surface.

I doubt that . There's more in there than that :) We had no choice. he would have went back if we did.

I highly doubt that was the only big one as well. There's still at least one more that's attached to jts1's ice rod

HOLY FRICK!
Look at the stubby snout on that sewer trout!
Awesome fish, man, congrats.
I love catching those old pike. I caught one that was 9 pound 33 inch at Snipe last week - has nothing on your burly pike, but still fun for sure. :)
