Been getting off work at 2:30 this week so plenty of time to head down to my favorite lake and tease the pike. A few pics. A friend on Saturday

Maybe next year I will rig up a hat cam for topwater fishing, so people can see just how crazy these pike can get. Nothing like seeing the whole length of the fish come straight up out of the water likes its levitating, or grab your lure and rocket 3 feet straight up out of the water, or cartwheel 2 or 3 times before they dive back in. Its the best excitement you can have without booze or drugs! Not for the faint of heart tho, especially when they come up from between your feet and grab your lure, especially if you happen to be looking away. I actually had one come up to the pontoon yesterday, ahead of my lure, and stare down the end of my rod tip that I was keeping low to the water, if I hadnt seen him and lifted it I am sure it would have hit my rodtip. Another good reason not to pee over the side!!! :sHa_sarcasticlol:

I know what you mean about the crazy pike, last summer I was pontooning on Langdon reservoir & had my flyrod sitting in the rod holder with about 6 ft of line & leader hanging down. I little pike came rocketting up right beside my leg & grabbed the streamer in mid-air just like rainbow nabbing a flying caddis!!!

Great pics and Great job WC!!

I have the same lure in my arsenal but maybe I haven't given it much chance to help me catch anything... but good to see it can actually catch pikes!!! :)

Hey Wayne,

Have you ever tried tipping your buzz bait with anything other than the skirt?
I'm thinking of trying a soft plastic minnow.

I'm sure it's a minor detail compared to all the surface commotion...

a soft tail (rubber) just adds to the buzz bait i use rubber tails all the time white works good ! Makes it look more yummy!:acigar:

I use a rubber grub also, gives them more to aim for, and they will also hit it when they follow it to the boat is you jig it sometimes.

Great Pictures, man your Sure Hard on those pike(lol). The top picture Sure looks alot like Murray Lake. But I cant remember there being little hills across the lake.If it is Murray we have caught Walleye off that dam in the boat.as your faceing the lake to the far left is a good size point on the lake(Its the first point to the left of the dam, when your Faceing the lake) theres a 16'-18' hole there where walleye's sometimes are, however Maybe thats not murray lake.
