My son and I will be heading up to Gull Lake to do some fishing this weekend and was wondering if anyone knew of some good spots for him to catch his first ever fish. Any species would be fine.

Thanks!

OK, thanks! Does anyone know of any good lakes in the area which might have better fishing at this time of the year.

Do you have a boat? If so, how big of a boat and motor and I can give you a few spots where you'll definitely get into some pike and maybe some walleyes too. We were there Monday night with some luck (see the report for Monday night)

Gull lake sure wasn't dead when I was there this past long weekend.

20+ walleyes over 23" in 10 to 12 hours of fishing.

Try fishing shorelines between 12' to 16' feet of water and troll spinners between .75mph and 1.3mph and see what you can find. It took me 4-5 hours of hard fishing to finally get a bite but once I did get one it seemed to be smooth sailing the rest of the weekend. It wasn't really fast paced but we were getting bites about every 5-10 minutes as long as our rigs were weed free and we were in the right depth of water and around the right speed.

Good luck if you do end up going and post how you did.

What end of the lake are you fishing npauls. I've heard the walleyes have been good this year. Good to see.

kind of the southwest end. Its tough to explain but its just north of the beach on the west side of the lake that I started my trolling and ended it when I got to the area with the private dock around the corner.
