I was just out on Sunday. The river is quite low at the moment. I parked on a sandbar and all I could catch were goldeye. Only one walleye and it was small. The last few times I've been out the goldeye have been swarming my hook.

Hey just signed up here. i floated the clearwater twice this year from 22 to the other bridge. fishing was a little slow. we did get 3 fish on the first trip. 2 nice browns and a small bull. the second trip last weekend, four of us floated and caught a total of 2 fish. the water wasnt as clear as sometimes but it wasnt bad either. so far this river has got our number. also camped and fished beside the prairie creek and caught alot of small fish but nothing to take a picture of. prairie is fun tho. if anyone has some pointers on the clearwater id love to hear em. is the fishing better more towards the mountains?

p.s.- im sure some of the fish in prairie creek would get alot bigger if there wasnt 100-150 quads being washed in the creek every weekend...dispicable.

not only that. if that log jam would clear up next to the campground the fish could travel upstream better.

ya i came across that log jam yesterday, kinna a buz kill... that has to be wats stoping the big ones from gettin up river. i didnt even know the log jam was there but now that i think about it the only decent brown i have caught was below that jam... anyways i ended up with 3 lil brookies... was more fun watchin them come up from under a log as soon as my fly hit the water... r the fish a lil bigger if u go southwest of the camp ground past strachan?? the road crosses it 2 more times and it was alot slower moving at both bridges.... im thinkin there might be a big nasty brown hidin in there somewhere??

i fished the clearwater a lil yesterday to but didnt even get a nibble... for a river that is so nice an clean and cold its a shame that the fish aren't very active/plentiful

I was thinkin of heading down to Rocky tomorrow and trying either the Clearwater or Prairie... would be the first time on either river.... any recommendations? (fly fishing)

Any suggestions on access points would be appreciated as well, I know I'll be doing some exploring though :)

I haven't fished Prairie Creek lately, but if you're in that area we did quite well for small bulls and browns on Elk Creek a week or so ago. We were fishing with small spoons and spinners but I'm sure they would take small drys off the surface. Gook luck!

Generally log jams are GREAT fish habitat. That is usually where the biggest fish in the river will be living.

well I was out @ Prairie Creek today (for the first time)... what a beautiful stream.

there wasn't too much surface action until about 3pm and it lasted until about 5pm when a couple of storms blew in.... I took off at about 6pm

ended up catching about 6 or 7 small ones and missed another 6 or 7, they were alot of fun... next time I'll have to try and figure out where the bigger guys are!
