Well, I am kind of an old phart, if I make it till next Monday I turn 50 on October 1/07. I shot my first big game animal, a Bull Moose, on my 14th Birthday in 1971. I was hiking along with my Dad on his hunts for 7 or 8 years before I was old enough to hunt. So at one time I was part of the "next generation" of hunters. Yup, I love to hunt!

I am 67 yrs old and have been hunting since i was seven. My Dad gave me an old single shot .22 to shoot gophers. At age 12 I got a single shot 12 guage which you learned quick to shoot cause your shoulder could not take the punishment. I got my first deer at 14 yrs. My Dad was a great conservasionat and teacher and I learned how to love anything sbout animals and the outdoors.

I am 27 and do not remember a time in which I have not been hunting and fishing. Not sure how old I was but the first game I ever took was a sharptail grouse, used an old 22 with irons. Closely followed by ducks with the 410 and then deer with my Grandfathers 243.

Good times!!

33. I've been into hunting for 8 years now. My daughter who is 11 goes with us most times for big game and upland hunting. She loves it too. Our 5 year old has gone on some upland hunts but has not had the chance to be with when we drop a big one yet. Soon, soon.

I'm 27 and have just started hunting when I meet my hubby Kelly.(about 3years now) been fishing for years though. Our two boys (2) and (1) have been out fishing and hunting since day 5 of each of their lives. Plus while I was carrying Del and Emmit as well, we hunted and fished. Delvin (2) was fishing on the shore of medicine lake when he was days old. Emmit (1) has been everywhere as well. I take the bigger guy in the bush when I check the trail camera. Thats our next generation of hunters and fishers.

I'm 32. Started to hunt by myself at 14 yrs. Told my dad I wanted to go shoot some ducks so we went out to my uncles farm and my uncle and my dad dropped me off at one of his fields and pointed me towards the slough were my uncle had seen a few. They took off and said they'll be back in a couple hours. They probably didn't think I would get anything but I suprised them and got 12 ducks 1st time out. They were surprised but my mom was p%ssed because she ended cleaning them all.

Well it looks like I am in good company here . . . I am -- years old and learning new things everyday.

Funny thing is, I recently tried on some of those cheapo reading glasses at the drug store the other day and boy, did it ever make a difference when reading the fine print-guess I will have to get my eyes checked . . . everything else is working okay.

The Tobi Keith song with the lyrics "You know, I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was" seems to make a lot of sense to me now.

By the way Chef, I like your sense of humour. It gave me a chuckle!

'Been having a blast (pun intended).

I'm 41 and started hunting with my dad and his crew of buddies (now cronies) when I was 7 years old. I loved being pulled out of school in early November as a kid to be at deer camp for 10 days. In fact, I'm taking my oldest daughter who is turning 8 years old in December for her first deer & grouse hunt tomorrow. Should be a challenge and a blast at the same time. Wish us luck!:o

Austin. Congrats on going with your Daughter.

A couple of things that I found really helped

-Assigned camp chores.. Willy had to make sure his sleeping area was clean, also took care of all garbage to the fire pit
-Figure out a card game that everyone can enjoy. In our case it was UNO.. Really that was a unexpected surprise. My wife packed it for him
- I took a sawed of BB gun for Will. That kid must have blasted off 200 rounds.
Great fun for him and I also took the chance to teach a lot of gun safety. He is well on his way to being safe. I made him treat it like a real gun and with the same respect we have for our rifles. In reality I guess that is what even a BB gun deserves.

Let me know if I can be of any help

42 years... Been hunting since I can remember.. Started helping out in Dads guide camps at around 12 or 13... Took my first Whity and Moose at 14,, and the Moose is actually my biggest so far,,, out of man,,, I don't know how many lost track a while ago,,, must be the age..... But I plan on many more years (Lord willing)... I have so much yet to learn...

My late Father always use to say that at age 90 he would,, on his own,, call, shoot and dress his own Moose... Then He would hang up his birch bark and call it a season.... Unfortunately our maker had different plans for him and cancer took him at age 73... But the year before at age 72 he did call,, shoot and gut his last moose on his own.. But he had to come and get us to help him skin and pack it out and hang it... He was getting weak from treatments... So I will take up the call and say that that is my goal... We'll see I guess..

2 years ago I found out that I am severely allergic to deer.I have to take meds and inhaler as well I have to carry an epi pen just in case.It is a good thing that I have the best friends anyone could ask for. They have no problem with me shooting and they will do the rest. That part bothers me.This year I will find out if I react to moose since I have a tag.Hopefully it will not be an issue...

65 plus meaning almost 66. Hunting, shooting very young. Grew up shooting beaver and muskrats and got a swift kick in the posterior if shells were wasted. First deer around 11 or 12, so long ago i can't remember. Sure chuckled when i read the post on the 80's. Should have one on the 50's. I'm certainly glad to see theres other guys on here my age. PS. Believe it or not muskrats brought up to 4-5 bucks for good ones back then and that was survival money on the farm in those days as we'd get 4 or 5 hundred in a good year trapping and shooting.

Cat, I'm fortunate that I have a good optometrist that made sure the prescription fit me perfectly. He told me that on average about 30-40% of bifocal prescriptions aren't properly fitted to the patient, so if they didn't fit, that's likely why.

37 here. Caught my first fish at 4, and my Dad took me hunting with him from as far back as I can remember. To bad he passed away before I took my first WTD at 16 (I'm sure he was there with me though:) ). Took down my first moose at 20 and got my prize posession 6 point elk only 2 years ago. I couldn't imagine not being outdoors.

36, I find every year I lose a notch of that youthful strength, I gain a notch in determination. Which exceeds strength easily so far.

Ive been hunting and fishing before I can remember, as the story goes, my parents were on a hunting trip for their honeymoon.....

Just turned 24, but seems like just last year i was in high school. Started hunting birds and squirrels on my own at 6, got my first buck (Blacktail spike) on my parents acreage on Van. Isle at 12, and been going at it ever since. I'm the only hunter in the family, Dad just likes his guns. Passing it on to the stepson though, he'll be 11 soon and watches my hunting vids more than I do. Got his first few hundred kills this summer (gophers).Iit was our first summer in Alberta and we don't have gophers on the Island. He has been with me on lots of Island bear hunts, and quite a few outings so far this fall.
